About Us
Who we are
Part of the Ramblers' Association, we are a fairly new group based in Darlington. We cover County Durham, The Yorkshire Dales, The North York Moors and The Cleveland Hills. Catering for 20- and 30-somethings (but there really is no upper age limit), we are the only such walking group between Northumbria and York. We currently have around 40 members with new people joining all the time. Our region is one of the best in Britain with numerous areas of outstanding natural beauty, national parks and lovely rural areas such as Weardale, Teesdale, Wensleydale, Swaledale, Coverdale and Nidderdale. Our Walks
Walks take place Saturdays or Sundays, starting between 10am and 11am, depending on time of year. The grades of walks cover most ability levels, from easy five mile walks lasting around two hours to moderate four or five hour hikes. We also organise weekend and week-long trips. Recent outings included weekend trips to Loch Lomond, Peak District, Glencoe and the Lake District, we have also successfully completed the Hadrian's Wall trail in 2006, Dales Way in 2007 and Wainwright's Coast to Coast in June 2008.
